New Mexico 50 Year Water Plan

Office of the State Engineer + New Mexico Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources  - Assesses predicted climate changes in New Mexico over the next 50 years, including an increase in temperatures, a greater variability in precipitation, and more severe droughts. 


The report calls for greater stewardship of water resources. 

Endangered Species Information

Links to information on the endangered Peppered Chub, which is now only found in one river across two states and is supported by Ute Lake.

Memorandum of Agreement (between the Interstate Stream Commission and the State Game Commission)

States that the ISC will maintain water in the reservoir at the minimum pool, which was intended to store about 50,000 acre-feet of water and was determined in 1963. The purpose of this was for conservation purposes to protect the lake’s ecology. Nowadays, the minimum pool now stores less than half that, at about 24,000 acre-feet.
