In 2022 the ISC completed a study to determine the amount of sediment that flowed into the lake since 1963. The study determined that…
· Since 1963, 59,700-acre feet of sediment flowed into the lake.
· Sediment continues to flow in at a rate of 1,010 acre-feet per year.
· At the current minimum pool (which has never changed since 1963), the lake would be reduced to 24,729 acre-ft of water—less than half of the minimum pool’s original storage capacity.
If the ENMWUA were to drain water out of the lake to the current minimum pool (as they are allowed to do), it would essentially be a mudpit and the damages done to the lake would be irreversible.
